We have exciting news for all our broadcasters. Our team has been working hard to bring you our next generation radio hosting. We have upgrades in the pipeline for almost all aspects of our websites including control panels, directory listings, forums and servers.

Our first set of upgrades will come to our radio hosting. We have an upgraded version of Centova Cast (version 3) which has many
improvements
over our current version 2. The new control panels are also installed on our improved server infrastructure which boasts super fast SSD drives, more cpu cores, more memory, all on an ultra fast and reliable network with more throughput available than before. In addition broadcasters will be able to choose from different physical server locations (Europe or US) which reflect where their listeners are.

We are also making it easier to subscribe to our services with an improved billing system allowing for all major credit and debit card payments in US Dollars, British Pounds and Euros.

When is this happening ?

We will run the old and new system's in parallel and begin offering the new servers to new sign ups within the next two weeks. Existing users will be emailed to arrange for a convenient time to migrate to the new servers.

What's involved in migrating ?

We will export your old account and import it into the new Centova Cast 3 servers. All your existing settings and report data (including auto DJ files) will be transferred. Both old and new servers will run in parallel for a few days while you get comfortable with version 3.

What will change ?

You will be issued with a new IP and hostname (your port can remain the same). These details will need to be passed on to your DJ's. You will also be able to use the new DJ management system and setup account for each of your DJ's to use the control panel without sharing your master password with them.

Can I change my currency and billing method ?

Yes. You will also be offered the opportunity to change from paying in British Pounds to either US Dollars or Euros. We can also change you from Paypal to using a credit or debit card direct with our new secure billing system.

Can I change my server to a different country ?

Yes. You can choose Europe (London, UK) or USA (Dallas).

If you have any further questions or comments about the upgrades then please feel free to start a discussion below.

Here's a copy of the email sent out to all active broadcasters :

Updated Servers and Control Panel

We released a news post on the forum a few days ago outlining some upgrades we have in the pipeline. The first being an upgrade to the control panel (Centova Cast) and the server hardware it runs on. You can read that post here :

http://forum.internet-radio.com/news/15083-major-server-upgrades.html

The new control panel and servers will be used for all new clients from now on but it's also ready for you, our existing clients. There's no need to sign up for a new account as we can export your current account (and auto dj files) to the new servers / updated control panel. Once we do this you will have both the old and new systems running at the same time.

You will be given a new hostname / ip so you will need to update any links to your radio from other websites, apps or itunes and inform your DJ's of the change. All other settings (username / password / port) will remain the same.

We need to know the following to setup the new server.

Username:Your preferred server location (UK or USA ?):

If you don't want to upgrade right now then that's fine as we will be sending further emails at a later date. We will eventually upgrade all accounts but plan on doing it in several phases.

If you have any questions please use our forum thread here : http://forum.internet-radio.com/news/15083-major-server-upgrades.html or reply to this email.

Centova has announced that they will discontinue support and bug fixes for Centova Cast version 2.

A reminder that per our November, 2013 announcement, the Centova Cast v2.x branch is deprecated and will be discontinued just over 2 months from now on November 1, 2014. We strongly recommend upgrading to v3.x as soon as possible.

Centova Technologies Inc. - News

This comes just as we migrate everybody to version 3. Perfect timing. Get in contact now if you haven't been upgraded yet.

Our first wave of users have upgraded and are enjoying the new control panel. The migrations went well without any issues or complications. We continue to make improvements to the system and are pleased with the progress.

A few of the features already completed on the new infrastructure are as follows :

Multi currency support (Euros, Dollars and Pounds).
Geo Locking now installed.
Auto DJ storage upgrades now available. (contact us for upgrades and prices).
Start pages working with improvements to maps and icecast polling.

The first server that will be decommissioned will be uk3.internet-radio.com. We plan to have this done within the next few weeks. There are still some remaining clients on this server and we are contacting them now. As mentioned above Centova Cast v2 will become obsolete as of November the 1st so we would like to get as many people moved across before then as no more updates will be made available and that includes possible important security updates.

Hi John,

We received your email a few days ago and its not been missed.

As you can imagine, we are receiving a very large volume of server move requests on a daily basis. This is a manual process and we are working our way through them all at the moment.

We do apologise for the wait and we should have yours ready in the next few days.

Although this is most likely sorted by now (as i was able to monitor this station earlier after a few false starts (the website triggers the stream from an embedded player but has to be accessed from the home page or it doesn't work)

if anyone is worried about the server change all that happened with my stream (VFR Europe) was the hostname for the stream changed (everything else remained the same such as the port number); it barely took 10 seconds to change the servers over (including a slight change to how my playout system sends data to which streams, which most people wouldn't have to do).

All the data/reports etc and the auto DJ content were indeed preserved as promised (even though playout is usually from a different source than centovacast auto DJ)

I personally would not advise hardcoding a stream URL / mountpoint directly into an app anyway in case a station needs to quickly change this (in the same way many radio studios would allow jumper cable or switchers/routers) to be used for rerouting audio equipment via rather than hardwiring all the cables....

uk3.internet-radio.com is being upgraded Monday (17th November 2014) morning 11:00-12:00 GMT. Here's the email that was sent to all uk3 customers last night :

As you are aware from our previous emails and forum posts we are in the process of upgrading all our software and server infrastructure. Your server is scheduled for upgrade on Monday 17th November between 11:00 and 12:00 GMT (morning). During this time your server (including all settings and auto dj files) will be transferred from the old Centovacast 2 installation to a new Centovacast 3 installation on a different server.

Although the IP address will change (from 77.92.68.221 to 109.74.196.76) the hostname will remain the same as uk3.internet-radio.com. So provided you have used the hostname uk3.internet-radio.com when referencing your radio from any encoder software, websites, directories or apps then you won't have to change anything and your radio will continue to work the same as before.

From 12:00 GMT (Morning) onwards you will be able to login to your new control panel using the "Login : Centova Cast v3" link rather than the old v2 one on Internet Radio Servers. Once logged in you will be able to take advantage of the extra features, updated software and improved server speed.

The move was a success and we were only a few minutes late on about 5 accounts. Everything seems to be working well and listener numbers are returning to levels similar to before the move.

Were having some hardware issues with the uk1 server so we are moving the upgrade forward. The hard drive has nearly died so we have decided its best to upgrade sooner instead of next week. Usually we would send an email notification with some warning but there's no time unfortunately.

You may have difficulty logging in to the old uk1 control in meantime. The radio servers are up and still broadcasting.

Its been a long day!

We have just finished upgrading the last uk1 servers. We have removed the Login v2 link as everybody should login via the v3 link from now on.

There is a small issue with the DNS on uk1 still propagating for a few people but this will resolve itself by tomorrow lunchtime. As we weren't prepared to move uk1 as well as uk2 servers today we hadn't lowered the TTL on uk1.

Everything seems fine but if anyone has any issues please post in this thread or use the contact form : http://www.internet-radio.com/contact/
