We are pleased to announce we have a new domain name! It's very similar to the last one (internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk) but better reflects our global audience (and its easier to remember).

We have are now the proud owners of internet-radio.com

This is quite a complicated change to implement so we will be organising the migration into stages and will keep you up to date on progress in this forum thread. We will begin rolling this out starting with the forum :
internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk will become forum.internet-radio.com (and get a major software update)

Next the directory, server and mobile pages will be migrated :
www.internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk becoming http://www.internet-radio.com
servers.internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk becoming servers.internet-radio.com
mobile.internet-radio (dot) org (dot) ukbecoming mobile.internet-radio.com

Lastly we will be migrating the control panels to the new domain. This will happen later and we will inform all users individually by email. There should be no problem with any links to playlists / start pages not working because we will be implementing proper (301) redirects.

Here is our current plan (may change) for the control panels :
cp.internet-radio (dot) org (dot) ukwill become uk1.internet-radio.com (and get a minor software update)
cp2.internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk will become uk2.internet-radio.com (and get a minor software update)
shoutcast.internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk will become uk3.internet-radio.com (and get a minor software update)

We will or course continue ownership of the internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk domain so that any future email / web traffic sent to the domain will redirect to the right place.

As always we would be very interested to hear any comments, suggestions or congratulations anyone has to offer :)

We are currently sending out an email advising all stations listed with us to update their links to our site. Here is a copy of the email :

We have sent you this email because you have listed an internet radio station in our directory via http://www.internet-radio.com/add/.

We have recently changed domain names from internet-radio.org.uk to internet-radio.com. Please update your link to the new domain name asap. We require a link back to our website for your station to be listed.

OLD LINK : http://www.internet-radio.org.uk

NEW LINK : http://www.internet-radio.com

We also do periodic checks for links to our site and remove any stations who do not reciprocate so if for any reason you don't have a link to us on your site this is a good time to make sure :)

We are confident our new .com domain name will help improve our international traffic. This in turn should increase the amount of visitors who can tune in to your radio.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to update.

Kind Regards,

Support @ IR

BONUS : Extra Tips to gain more exposure in our directory :

There are several things you can do to improve your visibility in our directory (and others). Here are some of our suggestions.

1. Setup your genres correctly. Our directory relies heavily on your genre settings in your meta-data. Take the time to set them up correctly. http://forum.internet-radio.com/guides/33-choosing-your-radio-genres-wisely.html

2. Make sure your station is set to public. We dont list stations which are marked as private.

3. Be accurate with your title (and descriptions) in the meta-data.

Unfortunately we seem to have lost the sharing / comment data from the genres (/stations) pages. This includes :

Facebook comments.
Facebook likes.
AddThis share counts.
Google +1's.

Shame! We had a fair few in there but im sure they will add up again. Curiously we didn't loose them on the /station/ pages.

Feel free to get commenting, liking and sharing again 8)

Managed to get back the Facebook comments on the genre pages :)

This is a bodge as we are still referencing the old .org.uk domain and we should really be referencing the new .com. Problem is the comments are keyed to the domain so we may reset it to the .com in the future.

Increased page load times by implementing CSS Sprites for all the flags and tune-in icons. This causes on average 20-30 less elements to be loaded per page view.

Just upgraded to the Facebook Javascript SDK rather than using iFrames. Again this should improve speed / reliability.

We have migrated the facebook comments on /stations/* to the new .com domain. Unfortunately this will cause them to reset and all old comments will be lost :( We are sure it wont take too long to get them back up :)

We are now beginning work on migrating the control panels to the new domain :

cp.internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk will become uk1.internet-radio.com
cp2.internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk will become uk2.internet-radio.com
shoutcast.internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk will become uk3.internet-radio.com

We will be working backwards beginning with shoutcast.internet-radio (dot) org (dot) uk. All affected users are being emailed to let them know if the change. We expect it to happen over the next week.

Its worth pointing out that we will of course continue to maintain the .org.uk domain name for the foreseeable future. This means that although we would like you to update any playlist links, code snippets and encoder settings to reflect the new hostname they will continue to work if you don't. We will have redirects in place to cater for any legacy links you cant update.

As usual we will keep you updated on the latest progress in this thread :nerd:
