The Radio Academy has today published the inaugural 30 Under 30, a list of the 30 brightest young talents working in UK radio.

The prestigious list, chosen from more than 200 applicants with a wide range of skills by a panel of independent judges, highlights the huge amount of young talent within the UK radio industry. The final 30 made the list not just by doing their day job brilliantly, but by going the extra mile and achieving exceptional results during the past 12 months. The list recognises them as superb ambassadors for the radio industry as a whole.

The list includes six from Global Radio, four from Bauer Media, three from the BBC and Absolute Radio respectively and two from GMG Radio. There are also two from independent production companies and two from community radio.

The final 30 work across a wide range of roles within radio: seven each from production and management, six from within a technical environment, five from sales, two from news, two presenters and one from marketing. Women are well represented, accounting for 33% of the list.

The full list is provided below.

John Myers, Chief Executive of The Radio Academy, said: “When we launched this campaign to find the best of the best, we were overwhelmed by the response, over 200 applicants from right across the UK from all sorts of roles. In order to come up with the right people, we formed a totally independent committee, chaired by Paul Robinson, and they have done an amazing job.

“The Radio Academy would like to offer its congratulations to all those who have achieved the accolade of being in the very first 30 Under 30 and we very much look forward to introducing them at the Radio Festival later this month.

“The challenge for them all is to remain on the list next year (assuming their still under 30) and they can only do that if they continue to perform at the highest level in their respective fields.”

Paul Robinson, Chair of the Committee, said: “Young people are the future of any business and the fact that so many entered just made our task that much harder. We wanted to ensure we selected the best people, regardless of where they worked or what they did. It took us a long time to decide but, in the end, the whole committee is delighted with the outcome and we congratulate all those who have been chosen.”

Pictures of all those who have been selected are now online at The Radio Academy website, Radioacademy:thirty:carousel:4 | The Radio Academy.
