Guys just a bit of advice needed for new DJ

Hey guys, this site has been so helpful thanks so much, but I just need a bit more help.


I am trying to get set up and broadcast to an internet radio station. I have downloaded NiceCast. I want to DJ on some other people's stations. My question is do I need ShoutCast or IceCast to be able to do this? Or can I log in to the other persons ShoutCast from my computer? Also, do I need anything else to get set up. I am using a MacBook Pro with a built in Mic.

We are glad that the website has proved helpful to you.

To DJ on other peoples radio stations, you do not need a Shoutcast or Icecast server. You would just require their servers details to add into the Nicecast encoder in order to connect to it and stream your show.

If you wanted to start your own Internet Radio station from scratch, then that's when you would require your own Shoutcast or Icecast server.
