We need LIVE presenters and ready-made shows

On May 1st, we’re launching a brand new radio station.

Based in Mallorca, it’ll be a lively mix of music and talk, combining both live and pre-recorded programmes. The music will cater to a broad spectrum of tastes. The live, prime-time shows will tend to broadcast mostly adult contemporary music but we would like to include specialist shows too, such as a weekly Americana programme.

In terms of style, the station will have luxurious Mediterranean feel. Our target audience is a sophisticated, well-travelled, affluent, international listenership.

As a priority, we’re looking to recruit presenters for both our breakfast programme and our equivalent of drive time. These are daily, three-hour shows, running 6am to 9am CET and 4pm to 7pm CET respectively. The breakfast presenter will need to be based in Mallorca, where we have premises. The drive time presenter can be anywhere in the world though the Mediterranean would be preferable. Both the breakfast and drive time shows will include live guests and various informative and entertaining slots – it’s not simply a question of spinning the tunes – so the presenters will need to have considerable experience. They’ll need to be relaxed behind the mic and also have some familiarity with modern digital broadcast technology.

As well as these prime-time slots and the Americana show, we’re keen to find someone who’ll present a weekly UK Northern Soul programme as well as a variety of different two-hour chill-out mixes (there is room for a chill-out programme every day) and two-hour house music shows (again, there’s room on the schedule for a club mix every day). We would also like to find a reggae presenter to deliver a weekly ‘sounds of the islands’ show with that wonderful Caribbean flavour. We already have a 70s show as well as a celebration of funk and soul from the 1980s. In the longer term, we’d also like to find a radio psychiatrist to present a Frasier-style programme.

We are open to suggestions for other shows.

The programmes will need to be delivered in segments 12 to 13 minutes in length, working to a standard commercial radio clock. Presenters and DJs will also need to give us a short biography and either provide a hi-res promotional photograph or agree to our choosing suitable images to represent their show on our website.

Our worldwide music licence is provided by the SGAE, which is Spain’s equivalent of the Performing Rights Society in the UK or America’s ASCAP.

We aim to begin demo-ing all the shows, to a strict schedule, in mid-April.

This is a commercial enterprise. We are not expecting presenters to work for free, though, obviously, we cannot include remuneration details here.
