Tekno (also known as spiral tekno, hardtek, tribetek) is a form of electronic dance music (edm) that is for the most part played at free parties across europe. The spelling of tekno with a k is deliberate to differentiate its style from that of traditional techno music and it coincided with the teknival (free party) movement of the 1990s. Tekno is of a fast tempo, usually around the 170bpm to 200bpm mark and it draws upon various influences such as techno, hardcore, rave, jungle and gabber.
