The late, great American country music singer Joe Diffie is the "focus beam" artist on this week's Boppin' With Beth. Hear about his career, untimely passing and a couple of tunes from his solo discography as well as a track with his pals Sammy Kershaw and Aaron Tippin. There's songs from some of his influences including George Jones (which he also appears on), Merle Haggard & The Strangers, Hank Thompson, Johnny Cash, Lefty Frizzell, Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Beth's Bop Of The Week is a new tune from Richard Lynch. I've got a unique 80's cover by Frankie & The Pool Boys in Hang Ten. Hear about his DJ career, music career and tragic death on the Winter Dance Party tour along with his fellow tourmates Buddy Holly & Ritchie Valens. In addition to a couple of tunes of his from his too brief career, there's tracks by influences and peers including Hank Williams & His Drifting Cowboys, Bill Haley & His Comets, Ike Turner's Kings Of Rhythm, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and Dion & The Belmonts.
