Yes thats right! Yet ANOTHER online station desperately looking to add DJs! Why should you join us over any other station out there? No reason whatsoever! What do we offer thats different to the other 437 stations continuosly posting for new DJs - NOTHING to be honest. We are about to celebrate our 2nd birthday so I thought I would post here to see if anyone is interested in joining a small band of socially unique individuals who - since the demise of CB radio feel the need to broadcast to the world in their own unique style via the art of streaming mp3 (just for the nerd fans out there - after all who actually does stream in aac?). So if you have nothing better to do whilst prime time television is on and prefer speaking and broadcasting to fellow slightly strange "net" people then check us out.
Right thats the attempt of a comedy write up done! (well it makes a difference from the usual guff).

We are;
legal (PRS & PPL)
Fun (most of the time)
Online 24/7 (when our bloomin streaming hosts play ball)
Do not use an Auto DJ system
Fully automated transmission system that puts you live and takes you off air automatically at the correct time as well as records all live shows automatically for repeat broadcast / archive
Encourage listener interaction via chatroom and song requester
Ask DJs to make a contribution to the running of the station (mainly the license fees)
Hold listener/social events through the year.
Hold Outside Broadcasts at various events through the year
Provide DJs with custom written playout software (pretty decent if we say so ourselves)
DJs have personal email address provided. (I know, contain yourself with the excitement on that one!)
No illusuions of being anything bigger than we are

We are not;
any good (most likely true)

Who are we? Oh yeah - we are A1 Radio Welcome to A1Radio
Come check us out
Email: edd@a1radio.co.uk if you are the slightest bit interested.
If not then simply glaze over this post and check and the one above which most likely says something like the following;
"Lots of slots still vacant" = only 2 DJs on the station
Have a great day :)
See you all in about 2 months when I too will post an almost identical message.

TBH if you are based in Peterborough I'm surprised you have not gone for a full community radio license on Band II (which of course would not stop you having your online stream) or teamed up with the crews who are trying this as you are easily professional enough to do so.

I'll admit the music format isn't what I'd normally listen to (I prefer specialist dance music shows) but its all done well and the playout system you have developed is impressive (I spent most of yesterday trying to install Sourceforge Airtime on a VPS I have access to only to find that its not compatible with that build).

As for AAC it gets used a fair bit nowadays, ofen used is to stream to users on smartphones so it doesn't eat away too much at their data allowance, and its widely used by mainstream broadcasters for terrestrial digital radio. I personally don't think it sounds as good as even Band II FM analogue and is only any good for speech, and todays dataplans in most of Europe and many Asian nations will let you often listen to a 192k stream on 3G without breaking the bank.

Some terrestrial broadcasters are trialling using it with DRM on MF and HF bands but I am unsure of its value elsewhere.or how well it copes in real life conditions with these bands swamped by interference generated by modern gadgets. its amusing you should mention CB as until recently some folk still used them but those frequencies are now nearly unusable because of this interference!

They inadvertently pushed your more popular post to the top of the forum (more views)

WAY above their own :rofl:

I like your pitch better, much more entertaining.

Did you get my email Ed? By the way, are you based in Ireland, with a name like that???

that is not too far off some equipment that was actually used in early broadcast automation systems and still found into the early 2000s :rofl:

What sort of content do you guys produce? I'd be interested to listen in. :)

Pretty much anything - request heavy formats. Some specialist shows but not keen on continous mixes (might as well just listen to itunes for that). We promote DJ/listener interaction.
